Description

The crankshaft of a 1957 Mark 55 outboard motor (55hp). Sand got in it, and I got the joy of pulling the thing apart. It is my motor; I got it with my new boat, but it wasn't running. Im taking it apart, putting the stuff on ebay, and what I sell will pay for repairing the boat. It will be replaced with a 35 hp Johnson outboard. My boat is a 1969 GW Invader, meaning the smaller size will definitely not affect the boat's speed.

This is cylinder 1 and 2 with the leaf plate between them. When the motor stopped running (or was stored), cylinder 2 and 4 were in the 'intake' or 'power' position so they were open to the air. Those cylinders rusted up while 1 and 3 remained in rather good condition. So this is not a photomanipulation, this just happened naturally, and I had a good camera to capture it.

Just proves the point: take care of your engine.
